Mobility Surprising animal encounters on the road
April 9, 2015
Who has never come across an animal on the road or at least collected a dozen insects on their windscreen.

Many drivers from all over the world have already been surprised by sudden animal encounters, some were out of the ordinary:

In Paris, a deer decided to quickly visit the 'Champs-Elysées' and do a 'Sightseeing'.

In Nairobi, Kenya, a rhinoceros and a zebra were being role models, they looked left then right before crossing the road.

Would you act out while an alligator is crossing a road in Florida?

In Alberta, Canada, drivers try to race elks on the motorway.

Why not turn a road in Bucharest, Romania, into a playground for bears.

In China, drivers have learned to share the road with ostriches.

At home, whereas a good car wash will get rid of the insects stuck on your car, encounters with animals can be quite dangerous and collisions can result serious damage.

So here is how you can avoid the big hassle:

  • Don't speed, especially when there are warning signs
  • Pay close attention to the two sides of the road
  • Don't forget to keep or turn your lights on
  • Wild boars and deer are never alone, so be prepared to encounter several of them
  • In case of a collision; secure the location and don't forget:
    • Your security jacket
    • Your warning triangle
    • To turn your hazard lights on
    • And to contact the police

It is strongly recommended not to touch the wounded animal because it could react badly…

In conclusion, stay alert and don't drive too fast, the animal world and we thank you.
